PALM THATCH PANEL CALCULATOR
PALM THATCH PANEL RESULTS
Use this tool to estimate how many thatch panels you'll need to cover your tiki hut or tiki bar. Round up to the nearest foot, and enter the dimensions of a regularly shaped area only. If your area to be covered is irregular (if it's L-shaped), calculate the regular sections separately, then add the together.
Use this tool to estimate how many 4 foot x 4 foot thatch panels are needed. This tool assumes you're double layering (similiar to roof shingles) and a 14 inch overhang from bottom of your roof.
Here's how many thatch panels you'll need to cover the roof area calculated. Remember that this is just an estimate; you may need more, depending on your specific roof layout. We've figured in a 20 percent for overlap, but you'll need more if you have a lot of corners to thatch around (every cut piece involves some waste). Draw a diagram of your tiki hut or tiki bar, and the layout you want to help you visualize the final project material needed.
THATCH PANELS

Number of bamboo panels required:
Keep in mind that our thatch panels are sold in 4 ft x 4 ft sheets, which will also affect how much you need to buy. If each sheet is 16 square feet and you need to cover 34 square feet, you'll need three thatch panels. Don't despair - it's always a good idea to have extra thatch panels left over for future repairs.
